Von George Byrd, 75, of Indianapolis, passed away May 5th in Indianapolis.He was born in 1933 in Indianapolis to George and Leona Byrd.After serving his country honorably in the U.S. Navy he married Freda McCoy, who preceded him in death.He was a machinist for over 30 years at Indiana Gear Works.He is survived by his children Michael, Rick, and Teresa;grandchildren Levi, Eric, Nicole, Bobbie, Casey;great-grandkids, Tristan and Kadence;and sisters Rosemary Sawyer and LaVonne McNealy.Visitation will be held Friday, May 9th from 11-2, with funeral at 2:00 at Soldier’s Memorial Chapel, 5626 Lawton Loop East, Indianapolis. He will be laid to rest with military honors at Washington Park East Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Children’s Miracle Network.
